How to get your background music back up and running following lockdown.

Re-opening after lockdown naturally comes with many challenges – restarting your in-store background music needn’t be one of them.

Whether you are returning to work in a shop, bar, restaurant or gym, this guide will help you get your in-store music players back up and running, ready to set the mood and welcome your customers back.

1. Firstly, determine how your players were silenced when you shut down prior to lock down:

If the volume was simply turned down, just turn the volume back up and your music should be audible again.
If your player and amp were switched off prior to closing for lockdown then then the first thing to do is to switch them back on.

2. If you still don’t have any music after turning everything back on, take a look at the checklist below:

Is your player connected to the amp?

If you can, follow the audio cable from the back of the player to the amp. Make sure the cable is plugged in to both the amp and the player.

Is the amp set to the correct volume?

Try raising the volume on the amp to an audible level.

If you have a wall volume control is that set correctly?

Try raising the volume on the wall switch to an audible level.

If you use a Mini Audio Player (MAP), is it showing a solid blue light indicating that the player is on?

If there is no visible solid blue light you may need to reboot the player by pulling out the power cable and reconnecting after 10 seconds.

The player will take a few minutes to reboot, after which your music should resume.
